In this prophetic age where voices echo from every corner; pulpits, social media, dreams, visions,
and even popular culture, there arises an urgent need to discern the true voice of the Lord. We are
not short of prophets, but we are in desperate need of discerners; men and women who can rightly
divide between the holy and the profane, between divine utterance and human ambition.
Heaven is still speaking. But so is the earth, the flesh, the soul, and the demonic. The challenge is
not whether God is speaking, but whether we can recognize His voice amidst the clamor.
Jesus said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” The
distinguishing mark of His sheep is not simply their love, their works, or their zeal but their ability
to hear and follow His voice. The enemy understands this truth well, which is why his greatest
weapon in the last days is deception; prophetic confusion, spiritual noise, and manipulation
masquerading as revelation.
Paul warned in 1 Corinthians 14:10, “There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world,
and none of them is without signification.” Every voice has an agenda. Every utterance carries a
spirit. Every prophetic word comes from a source. But not every voice comes from God.
The days are evil, and discernment is the prophet’s compass. We are not called to follow signs.
We are called to follow the Shepherd. We are not called to be fascinated by gifts, we are called to
be anchored in truth. True prophetic discernment is not birthed in the marketplace of prophecy but
in the secret place of intimacy.
When young Samuel heard the voice of the Lord in 1 Samuel 3, he could not discern it. He mistook
the voice of God for the voice of Eli. Like many emerging prophets today, Samuel was called, but
untrained; anointed, but not yet discerning. It took a seasoned mentor, Eli, to help him posture
himself to hear correctly. And once he aligned, the prophetic stream opened in full.
This book is for you, young prophet.
It is for those who dream and wonder, “Was that from God or from me?”
It is for the one who has heard contradictory prophetic words and doesn’t know who to believe.
It is for the prophet in training who doesn’t want to speak presumptuously.
It is for the mature believer who wants to sharpen their senses to avoid deception in these perilous
times.
